I've gotten enough request for information on the topic of experimental or home-built lighter-than-air aviation, that I decided it was time to devote a web page to it. Here it is. I don't have a lot of information yet, but I'll add it if I get it.

There is an e-mail discussion group devoted to the topic of home-built LTA craft. It is at lta-builder@hotair.lonestar.org. Put Subscribe in the subject line to subscribe to this group. If your web viewer supports forms, you can subscribe via the Mail Reflector Subscription Service.

The Balloon Builders Journal A technical journal for hands-on experimentalists. A sample copy is available for $3 US from


That sample cost is applied to a $12 US annual subscription fee, if you then subscribe. The Journal is published 6 times per year.
