Ballooning Online!

Welcome to the Ballooning Online! storyboard, your comprehensive source for ballooning information on the World Wide Web. Please check What's New regularly to see what we've added, and have fun and enjoy!

If you're not involved in ballooning already, you're missing a lot of fun. You can get involved by going to an area rally where you might see 50, 100, or even 650 balloons in flight at the same time! If a rally is not nearby, you can get to know your local pilots or crew at area clubs. You can get to localized and regionalized ballooning information via our regional breakdown page. Another way to find pilots is by looking them up in the yellow pages section of your phone book (look under "Balloons-Manned" in the USA).

Once you become a "balloonatic" (check our glossary to see what that means), you will suddenly notice that you can't get enough weather information, which is crucial for the "go no-go" decision. You'll constantly pray for good weather. Get out that camera, because when you finally get to see those balloons in flight, you'll want to take lots of pictures!

Of course, your obsession with ballooning might cause you to surf the web looking for other ballooning related links, of which there are a few. Some people are even crazy enough to give Ballooning Online! a link in their web pages!

After you've been around the sport a short while, you might feel it necessary to become a pilot. Once you do that, your obsessions get even worse. You're constantly checking the classifieds for good deals, or checking product reviews to find out about the latest gadgets and gizmos (like that new GPS you've got to have)! You may even try to break a ballooning record or two. Some pilots even try to build there own balloon!

The oldtimers, having overcome a lot of this obsessiveness (I'll believe that when I see it), look back on the sport and think about its history, and they remember who's who in ballooning - the people who made ballooning what it is today. They impart there great wisdom and knowledge by writing articles and stories for ballooning books and periodicals.

Now, it's time to sit down with all you new balloon enthusiasts and watch a movie or tv-show with balloons in them (like The Wizard of Oz).

Thank you for visiting Ballooning Online! We'd like to thank our wonderful contributors who've help to make this sight what it is, and we'd also like to note the many excellent sources of information we've used to add to this site. Thank you!

Until next time... Gentle Breezes and Soft Landings!
