Many balloonists will tell you that they have a love/hate relationship
with the weather, but you can't find many that won't talk up a storm
about the topic! On this page, I will present some interesting
weather items that I have come across, that I think you might find
interesting as well.
My first item is a beautiful example of a meso-scale low pressure area
over the North Atlantic just NW of Bermuda! This is not a tropical
system, but a cold-core weak surface low.
It can be seen in beautiful detail in this visible image from GOES-8
on 28 June 1995 at 2145 UTC.
Coming soon is an analysis of the deadly mid-July 1995 heatwave in the USA.
This heatwave had some of the highest dew point / temperature combinations I've ever seen
anywhere in the country in the last 25 years!
Hurricane Warning!
Hurricane Felix approaches the Middle Atlantic Coast of the United States!
Catch all of the details here at Ballooning Online! NOTE:Many sites with
Hurricane Felix information are swamped with accesses at this time. When possible, I will
attempt to load a few graphics locally here to assist you.
